Pronoia 776672 Trilogy Part 1
Described as a ``playground for audio visual experiences,`` the project aims to move beyond genre definitions, focusing instead on finding a ``flavour`` and a ``feeling`` that represents the lifestyle and art of its contributors. ###
Pronoia 776672 Trilogy Part 1
This first installment of the trilogy is an expansive look at the South African underground circa 2015. It features a diverse roster of talent, including The CapTn, Anti-B, and Uni-VERSE, but leans heavily on the versatility of Two Point Owe, who appears on three separate tracks: “Hold On,” “Two AM,” and “Its All Over.”
The project highlights the label’s collaborative spirit, with notable features such as “Serephim Swords” by WitchCrAft featuring Alka and Hymphatic Thabs, and a “Tainted Love (dubclashremix)” by Zetina Mosia.
While the tracklist is eclectic–ranging from the boom-bap production of “Stone Kold Killa” (Anti-B) to the more experimental “Weird Analyst” (Markus Corvine)–it maintains a consistent thread of raw, unfiltered expression. The album closes with a “dope contribution” from Slege Lee on “Jozi Slang,” grounding the project in the urban landscape of Johannesburg.
Overall, 776672 Trilogy Part 1 is less a cohesive studio album and more a curated gallery of the region’s freshest talent, fulfilling Pronoia.Africa’s mission to discover and promote undiscovered local artists.
