Mark Anthony Duckitt’s journey is nothing short of a wild ride, shaped by both his relentless ambition and the universe’s twist of fate. He kicked things off at Concept Interactive, diving deep into Adobe Suite and learning the ropes of web design. His first gig was at Laragh Courseware, building e-learning templates in Flash (now Adobe Animate CC). Then came a pivotal move to Met04 Interactive, where he worked under the MAD creative genius Justin Bradbury—a total whirlwind of chaos, art, and design. That place is where Mark truly found his footing as the designer-artist he is today.
From there, Mark took a leap to Rat Race Media in Stellenbosch, where he filmed everything from inflatable boat races to four-by-four challenges and even western pleasure horse shows. He later made his way back to Cape Town, joining Shamanic Organic Production, where he contributed to the award-winning Hip Hop Revolution documentary, handling offline editing and motion graphics.
His next stop was Love Friday, where he created weekly infographics for the popular kids’ show Hectic99 and also designed the intro graphics and TV ident for both Hectic99 and TMS – Tell Me Something. During this time, Mark was part of the Hip Hop crew The Realist, signed to the international label Muti Music.
The grind continued at Silver Bullet Productions, an award-winning company where Mark honed his skills even further. But it wasn’t long before he received an offer from Mortimer Harvey, a top ad agency in Johannesburg. He moved to Jo’burg, and just as things were picking up, life threw him a curveball. On May 13th, 2013, Mark was in a serious car accident. He survived, but the accident left him with the loss of use of his right hand and a severe limp, as he was paralyzed from the right side down.
Rather than let this define him, Mark shifted gears and channeled his energy into something bigger than himself. He founded Pronoia.Africa, a brand dedicated to helping musicians by creating compilations (mix tapes) and music videos that resonate with him on a personal level. He turned his struggles into fuel for a mission: to create, connect, and inspire.
